The Business Case:

Grocery's characteristics of repeat purchases, low involvement, and perishability make it the vertical most naturally suited for agentic commerce, with about a third of US consumers willing to let AI auto-reorder staple items.

On the other hand, Deloitte found 69% of merchants experienced AI-enabled fraud in the past year, while only 3% felt well prepared to address the increasing attacks agentic AI enables, and fraud rose 37% quarter over quarter for merchants with notable AI-referred traffic,

Applying Agentic AI payments to the $1.1+ trillion US grocery sector creates a massive structural economic shift.

The US economy gains an estimated $160B+ in net efficiency gains, shifting value directly back into consumer household budgets and automated supply chain logistics.

This post summarizes the architecture and go-to-market model for a fraud-resistant, browser-based payment rail purpose-built for agentic e-commerce. The system pairs an AI shopping and purchase agent with a dedicated wallet, both delivered as browser extensions, and is designed from first principles around a single premise: trust in agent-initiated payments should be built into the architecture, not calibrated in after the fact through monitoring and fraud detection.

This stands in contrast to the current default pattern across the industry, where AI shopping agents are bolted onto existing human checkout flows and payment rails, inheriting all of their fraud exposure while adding new, agent-specific attack surface.

The wallet extension holds signing keys and is the only component that can authorize a payment.

Agent extension handles reading a merchant's purchase request or building a cart. It never has access to signing keys

The decision logic in this design is fully deterministic. The system's reliability claim is therefore precise: transactions are decided correctly and consistently; execution is backstopped by the same dispute and refund mechanism already in place for human transactions.

Merchant participation follows a staged onboarding path, including the following steps:

Know Your Business (KYB) verification, establishing merchant legitimacy before any technical integration begins.

Technical integration of catalog, checkout session, and webhook.

Sandbox validation before production traffic.
